and hold fast Heb. וּמַחֲזִיקִים, and hold fast.

That keep my sabbath, etc. The sabbath is mentioned, because it is a sign of the covenant between Him and those that keep it, on account of God having rested on it;⁷The words on account of God having rested on that day are part of the condition of the covenant; the Sabbath is to be kept, because God declared it holy when He created the universe in six days and rested on the seventh. he who keeps the Sabbath is, therefore, a worshipper of the Lord.
