scroll Heb. גִּלְיוֹן, like מְגִלָה. ([Mss. add:] Or a tablet.)

גליון. According to some related to מגלה scroll; the י of גליון compensates for the omission of the Dagesh in ל; comp. דליו They are poor (Prov. 26:7).¹Our editions have ל ,גִּלָּיוֹן with a Dagesh, like ﬠִוָּרוֹן ,זִכָּרוֹן etc., of the root גלה, the ה being changed into י as in the participle passive Kal גָּלוּי; according to I. E. it is derived from גלל, like רליו from רלל.
