Kabbalah Mazmur 2:12: Sha'arei Kedusha & Sefer HaBahir

In contrast, there is no greater quality than trust in HaShem-יהו״ה, blessed is He, as written,⁴⁶⁵Psalms 2:12 “Happy are all who trust in Him.” A person who has this quality is faithful that there is a God in the world, who is all-capable and supervises over everything. It thus is written,⁴⁶⁶Jeremiah 17:7 “Blessed is the man who trusts in HaShem-יהו״ה, HaShem-יהו״ה will be his security.” Such a person is certain that he will not lack sustenance, as written,⁴⁶⁷Psalms 55:23 “Cast your burden upon HaShem-יהו״ה and He will sustain you.” However, this applies on condition that his trust in HaShem-יהו״ה is truly sincere, with all his heart and without doubt. This is evident by the fact that if he truly trusts in HaShem-יהו״ה, blessed is He, he will occupy himself in studying His Torah and fulfilling His mitzvot with all his heart and without any misgivings.

[Mar Rachumai's students asked,] "What is patach?" [He said,] "An opening [petach]." [They asked,] "And what is an opening?" [He replied,] "It is a north wind, which opens to the whole world. From the gate through which the evil came out, the good comes out." [They asked,] "And what is 'good'?” He mocked them, "Didn't I say to you, 'a small patach'?" They said to him, "We forgot. Teach us." He repeated [the teachings from 34 and 36, above]. He said to them, "To what can this be compared? To a king who has a throne. Sometimes he takes it on his arm and sometimes on his head." They said to him, "Why?" [He replied,] "Because it is beautiful and [it would be] a pity to sit upon it." They said, "Where does he place it on his head?" He said to them, "In the open mem, as it is written, 'Truth sprouts from the land, and righteousness looks down from the heavens.' (Psalms 85:12)"
