Tiga kali setahun setiap laki-laki di antaramu harus menghadap ke hadirat Yang Mahakekal, Allahmu, di tempat yang akan dipilih-Nya, yaitu pada Hari Raya Roti Tidak Beragi, pada Hari Raya Tujuh Minggu, dan pada Hari Raya Pondok Daun; dan janganlah ia menghadap ke hadirat Yang Mahakekal dengan tangan hampa;

Now that you are aware of this, I will explain the above-mentioned analogy. Know that when HaShem-יהו״ה, blessed is He, appears before the nations, it is like a king appearing before all His ministers and servants, at which time He is garbed in garments of kingship, or garments of war and the like, and as we informed you before, He does not appear before them except in his garments and adornments. Therefore, the nations who serve false gods do not see HaShem-יהו״ה, being that His many titles and garments cover and conceal Him from them. However, when HaShem-יהו״ה, blessed is He, stands with the congregation of Israel, He stands with them like a king with the members of his household, in that He removes some of His outer garments. That is, it is the way of the king to remove some of his outer garments when he is with the members of his household. This is the secret of the verse,180Deuteronomy 16:16 “Three times a year all your males should appear (Yeira’eh-יראה) before HaShem-יהו״ה your God,” about which our sages, of blessed memory, stated,181Talmud Bavli, Chagigah 2a “Just as one comes to see (Lirot-לראות), so also, he comes to be seen (Leira’ot-ליראות).”
