Tafsiran yang Mengutip untuk Bilangan 32:32

One can explain this Midrash (regarding Rabbi Ishmael’s hermeneutics) in the following fashion: The word nachnu appears four times in the biblical text: “All of sons of one man are we (nachnu)” (Gen. 42:11); “For what are we (nachnu) that you should incite complaints against us?” (Ex. 16:7); “We (nachnu) shall cross over, armed before the Lord,” (Num. 32:32); and “For we (nachnu) have sinned and transgressed,” (Lament. 3:42) This is the meaning of this linguistic tradition: When Israel saw the Egyptians behind them, it is written: “They were frightened and the Israelites cried out to the Lord.” (Ex. 14:10) Moses answered them: “Do not be afraid.” (Exodus 14:13) Then the Israelites answered: ‘For (nachnu) we have sinned and transgressed,’ just like the Egyptians, therefore, ‘What are we’ that we should be saved from them? Moses then answered the people of Israel ‘All sons of ONE man are we’ – the one is Abraham, who is called “one:” “Abraham was ONE, and he inherited the land…” (Ezekiel 33:24) Therefore, said Moses, ‘We (nachnu) shall cross over, armed before the Lord.”

גד גדוד יגודנו, "Gad, a troop shall troop upon him, etc." Jacob links his blessing to his name, interpreting his name as meaning "a troop, a camp," as well as גדיה. The author refers the reader to the Sefer Ha-aruch which describes the word גד also as meaning "to draw," "to lead," and "to surround." Accordingly, the meaning is that Gad will surround his enemies. When Jacob continued: והוא יגוד עקב, this means that he will utterly destroy them to the heel, i.e. the lowest extremity. Gad will surround the entire camp of Israel and fight on their behalf. עקב may also refer to the fact that he would help them to receive their reward, their inheritance, [all this is a reference to when the two and a half tribes led by Gad undertook to form the vanguard in the conquest of the land of Canaan in Numbers 32,32. Ed.]

ויצו להם, Moses now commanded not to give to these two tribes the lands of Sichon and Og until they would return from conquest of the lands on the west bank of the river Jordan. This is the meaning of verse 22. The two tribes did not accept this arrangement and said נחנו נעבור חלוצים (verse 32) on condition that אתנו אחזת נחלתנו, that simultaneously we will be in possession of our ancestral inheritance. As soon as we shall cross the river Jordan these lands will be legally ours!
