As for drinking; golden utensils. [The word וְהַשְׁקוֹת means the same] as וּלְהַשְׁקוֹת and to give to drink.15Shemos 2:16.
Ramban
FOR SHE WAS A SHEPHERDESS. The intent of this is to relate that Laban’s sheep had no shepherd other than Rachel, since her father turned over the flock to her alone. She alone tended them all the days, and Leah did not go with the flock at all. The matter was thus unlike that of the daughters of Jethro, where all seven daughters tended the flock simultaneously, as it is said, And they came and drew water.71Exodus 2:16. Perhaps due to Leah’s eyes being tender,72Further, Verse 17. the rays of the sun would have hurt her, or because Leah was older and of marriageable age, her father was more concerned about her. Jethro however was honored in his community and he was the priest of the country, and he was confident that people would be afraid of approaching his daughters. It may be that Laban was more modest than Jethro for Abraham’s family was proper and modest, but Rachel was yet young and there was no concern for her. This is the sense of the verse, And Jacob kissed Rachel.73Verse 11 here. It may be as Rabbi Abraham ibn Ezra said that where the Hebrew word for “kissing” is followed by the letter lamed — [as here: Vayishak Yaakov l’Rachel, instead of the word eth] — it means not on the mouth, but that he kissed her on her head or on her shoulder.

Tanchuma Balak 5 quotes Proverbs 28,10: “he who misleads the upright into an evil course will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will prosper,” as applying to our situation. According to the Midrash, in earlier times people observed sexual mores, respecting laws laid down by G’d. They base this on Genesis 29,9 “and Rachel came with the flocks which belonged to her father.” [Her father did not need to worry that the male shepherds would molest her. Ed.]. We have a similar statement concerning the seven daughters of Yitro who were not scared of encountering male shepherds when watering their father’s flocks (Exodus 2,16). Then there arose Bileam who misled people into practicing sexual permissiveness. He would therefore fall victim to being misled himself. This is the reason G’d asked him the question: “who are these men with you?” Bileam jumped to the conclusion that there are times when G’d can be deceived and decided to accept the mission to curse the Jewish people looking for a point in time when G’d’s “blind side” would be turned in his direction.

הכהנים mean THE PRIESTS. The term כהן always means one who ministers to Deity except in those cases where it denotes one of high rank, e.g. (Exodus 2:16) “Jethro the chief of (כהן) Midian” and (Genesis 41:45) “the chief of (כהן) On”).
