וַיּוֹצֵ֨א אֹת֜וֹ הַח֗וּצָה וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ הַבֶּט־נָ֣א הַשָּׁמַ֗יְמָה וּסְפֹר֙ הַכּ֣וֹכָבִ֔ים אִם־תּוּכַ֖ל לִסְפֹּ֣ר אֹתָ֑ם וַיֹּ֣אמֶר ל֔וֹ כֹּ֥ה יִהְיֶ֖ה זַרְעֶֽךָ׃
Lalu Ia membawanya ke luar dan berfirman: “Tengadahlah ke langit dan hitunglah bintang-bintang, jika engkau dapat menghitungnya.” Lalu firman-Nya kepadanya: “Demikianlah keturunanmu kelak.”
