וַיָּ֤רֶב הָעָם֙ עִם־מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ תְּנוּ־לָ֥נוּ מַ֖יִם וְנִשְׁתֶּ֑ה וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לָהֶם֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה מַה־תְּרִיבוּן֙ עִמָּדִ֔י מַה־תְּנַסּ֖וּן אֶת־יְהוָֽה׃
Lalu bangsa itu bertengkar dengan Musa dan berkata, “Berilah kami air supaya kami dapat minum.” Musa berkata kepada mereka, “Mengapa kalian bertengkar dengan aku? Mengapa kalian menguji Yang Mahakekal?”
Targum Jonathan
And the wicked of the people contended with Mosheh, and said, Give us water, that we may drink. And Mosheh said to them, Why contend you with me? and why tempt you before the Lord?
