וְהָיָ֞ה כְּעֵ֣ץ ׀ שָׁת֣וּל עַל־מַ֗יִם וְעַל־יוּבַל֙ יְשַׁלַּ֣ח שָֽׁרָשָׁ֔יו וְלֹ֤א ירא [יִרְאֶה֙] כִּֽי־יָבֹ֣א חֹ֔ם וְהָיָ֥ה עָלֵ֖הוּ רַֽעֲנָ֑ן וּבִשְׁנַ֤ת בַּצֹּ֙רֶת֙ לֹ֣א יִדְאָ֔ג וְלֹ֥א יָמִ֖ישׁ מֵעֲשׂ֥וֹת פֶּֽרִי׃
Poiché egli sarà come un albero piantato dalle acque, e che allargherà le sue radici sul fiume, e non vedrà quando verrà il calore, ma il suo fogliame sarà rigoglioso; E non sarà ansioso nell'anno della siccità, né cesserà di produrre frutti.

Nachmanides quotes as a source for his explanation of the name Yovel a verse in Jeremiah, Ve-al yuval yishallach shorashav, “And its roots will be sent forth” (Jer. 17:8). Yovel is when spiritual roots spread out to return their offshoots home. Yovel’s nature is further reflected in its two defining laws.
