Commento su Ester 7:4
כִּ֤י נִמְכַּ֙רְנוּ֙ אֲנִ֣י וְעַמִּ֔י לְהַשְׁמִ֖יד לַהֲר֣וֹג וּלְאַבֵּ֑ד וְ֠אִלּוּ לַעֲבָדִ֨ים וְלִשְׁפָח֤וֹת נִמְכַּ֙רְנוּ֙ הֶחֱרַ֔שְׁתִּי כִּ֣י אֵ֥ין הַצָּ֛ר שֹׁוֶ֖ה בְּנֵ֥זֶק הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ (ס)
Imperocchè siamo stati, io e la mia nazione, venduti per essere distrutti, uccisi ed esterminati. E se ad essere schiavi e schiave fossimo stati venduti, tacerei; poiché il nemico non vale quanto il danno del re (vale a dire: tacerei, se si trattasse di renderci schiavi a vantaggio del re; ma il nostro eccidio non può riuscirgli che danno, e danno tale, da superare il valore e l'importanza del nostro nemico).

For the oppressor has no regard for losses incurred by his majesty. He is not concerned about the king’s loss, for if he had sought your benefit, he should have said, “Sell them as slaves and maidservants and take the money,” or “keep them now to be your slaves, they and their descendants.”
