וְלֹ֣א שָֽׁמְע֔וּ וְלֹ֥א הִטּ֖וּ אֶת־אָזְנָ֑ם וַיַּקְשׁוּ֙ אֶת־עָרְפָּ֔ם לְבִלְתִּ֣י שומע [שְׁמ֔וֹעַ] וּלְבִלְתִּ֖י קַ֥חַת מוּסָֽר׃

ma non ascoltarono, né inclinarono l'orecchio, ma irrigidirono il collo, per non udire né ricevere istruzioni.

But they did not hearken i.e., your forefathers did not hearken to what I commanded them.
