וַיָּבֹ֣א גִדְע֔וֹן וְהִ֨נֵּה־אִ֔ישׁ מְסַפֵּ֥ר לְרֵעֵ֖הוּ חֲל֑וֹם וַיֹּ֜אמֶר הִנֵּ֧ה חֲל֣וֹם חָלַ֗מְתִּי וְהִנֵּ֨ה צלול [צְלִ֜יל] לֶ֤חֶם שְׂעֹרִים֙ מִתְהַפֵּךְ֙ בְּמַחֲנֵ֣ה מִדְיָ֔ן וַיָּבֹ֣א עַד־הָ֠אֹהֶל וַיַּכֵּ֧הוּ וַיִּפֹּ֛ל וַיַּהַפְכֵ֥הוּ לְמַ֖עְלָה וְנָפַ֥ל הָאֹֽהֶל׃

E quando venne Gedeone, ecco, c'era un uomo che raccontava un sogno al suo seguito e diceva: 'Ecco, ho fatto un sogno e, ecco, una torta di pane d'orzo è precipitata nell'accampamento di Madian, e è venuta alla tenda, l'ha colpito e l'ha rovesciata, e l'ha capovolta, che la tenda è stata distesa.'

Toasted. The written text is צׇלוּל, "clear".5Occasionally, the written Scriptural text, כְתַב, differs from the the spoken text, קֽרִי. Rashi notes that this is the case here, where the written text is צׇלוּל, while the spoken text is צְלִיל, “toasted”. The generation was cleared of righteous men.

Barley bread. This represents the merit of the Omer offering, which was brought on Pesach.6 On the second day of Pesach. The offering consisted of barley meal. (Vayikra, 23:11,16. See Rashi there. Cf. Rashi above, 6:19).
