Commento su Salmi 92:18

A song with musical accompaniment of the Levites.

for the Sabbath day that they would recite on Sabbaths, and it deals with the world to come, which is entirely Sabbath.

Good [It is good to praise the Name]: The Sabbath Day is better for praising the Name than the other days of the week. For one is free of the business of the world and one's spirit rests from physical troubles. The spirit occupies itself in Wisdom and the service of God. And it is good to say [praise] to your name, O Exalted one. For the exalted soul finds an opportunity to praise You, who are Exalted.

To declare in the morning Your kindness At the time of the Redemption.

and Your faith at night And during the distress of the exile, to believe in You that You will keep Your promise, all this is splendid and good.

Upon a ten-stringed harp and upon a psaltery Heb. עשור, a harp of ten strings.

A boorish man does not know What is stated below.

And inasmuch as [the Inclination] overcame him at that time, he in any case needs to search for and strengthen himself through a different method, guidance and effort, for the battle. For the Inclination will not be suppressed by the divine guidance of yesterday or the day before it. The general rule is that Belief in what the eye cannot see, the ear cannot hear, and no mind can apprehend - 'the Lord alone shall be exalted'. And subsequently, the strengthening of Awe which in any case follows from the Belief, for the two are really one thing in simple unity. It is this which brings connection to Him, may he be blessed, through each and every attribute, since these things stand at the height of the world and break every lust and Kelipah. And when these (Belief and Awe) overtake him "all the evildoers are scattered"..."as wax melts before fire" and "to have self-control to conquer".

When the wicked flourish like grass they do not know that their flourishing is only to destroy them to eternity, for He recompenses His enemies to their face to destroy them.

But You remain on high In all Your judgments, You have the upper hand, for all justify Your judgments.

to soak me with fresh oil Heb. בלתי. To soak me with the oil of dominion. בַלֹתִי is like (Num. 15: 9): “mingled (בלולה) with oil.”

upon those who stare at me Heb. בשורי, at those who stare at me, as (5:9): “those who lie in wait for me (בשוררי).”

when evildoers rise up against me About the wicked who rise up against me, my ears heard from behind the “veil” that they will not succeed in destroying us [perhaps, David and his men]. So I heard.

The righteous one flourishes like the palm, etc. Like the palm that produces fruit, and like the cedar insofar as its trunk renews itself.

Planted The righteous will be [planted] in the house of the Lord.

will...grow Heb. ישגה, will grow.

fat Heb. דשנים, They will be fat and fresh, and then they will declare that the Lord is upright.
