For this reason, Yisrael hasten to treat him with sly wisdom, so he will not be able to cause evil and rule. Therefore Jacob, who is imbued with the true Faith, treated Esau in all that he did so that there would be no place for that serpent to defile the Temple, or approach it and thereby rule the world. Thus, Abraham did not need to behave slyly, and neither did Isaac. For Esau, who was on the side of the serpent, had not yet come into the world. But Jacob, the landlord, had to stand against that serpent to prevent him from ruling and defiling the Temple of Jacob. Therefore, Jacob had to (fight him) more (cleverly) than the rest of the people in the world. Hence Holy Yisrael were chosen to be the part and portion of the Holy One, blessed be He, as it is written, "For Hashem's portion is His people; Jacob is the lot of His inheritance" (Devarim 32:9). "And the boys grew..." (Gen. 25:27). This refers to the side of Abraham which caused them to grow. His merit supported them, for he was teaching them the precepts, as it is written, "For I know him, that he will command (Et) his children" (Gen. 18:19). The particle Et means that Jacob and Esau are included (among his sons). Therefore, the explanation of, "And the boys grew". Rabbi Elazar disagreed. Each went his own way

How much more so will he who fears the Lord (Exod. 9:20) give more love, awe, fear, and humility, will he worry because of his sins, and will he be concerned lest he increase his sins with the iniquity of erring in the statements [concerning] the knowledge of the holy God (Josh. 24:19) lest his soul offer itself in restitution (Isa. 53:10). His only recourse (Esther 4:11) and the territory of his inheritance (Deut. 32:9) is to strip himself, and to cut and offer [himself] as a complete sin offering. He will be morally strong to bind with a bond forbidding (Num. 30:3) that which he has not heard from his teachers. He makes even all his paths (Prov. 5:21) and the utterances of his lips (Ps. 21:3). For if he falls (Deut. 22:8), who will raise him up? (Gen. 49:9). The Lord alone will lead him, and there is no strange god with him (Deut. 31:12) who has apportioned to test in them and afflicted [them] because of their iniquities (Ps. 107.17).

It says in the Midrash Rabbah in Naso: “Arise and go, for this is no place to rest, because of uncleanness that destroys with a grievous destruction” (Michah 2:10). The Creator tells us: “for other sins I would extend my mercy towards you, but since you sinned with adultery, ‘arise and go’.” What is ‘a grievous destruction’ (Chevel Nimratz)? I have said ‘For the portion of the Creator is His people, Jacob the lot of His inheritance (Chevel Nachlato)’ (Deuteronomy 32:9). I took Jacob and he was my portion, since his offspring was likened to a rope/chain (Chevel) that is intertwined one with another, since they were all related by their fathers and not one offspring stopped the chain because they all protected themselves from adultery and not one was a bastard. How so? It says ‘Elazar gave birth to Pinchas, Pinchas gave birth to Avishua’ and so too by all of them that the chain goes like this, and you had relations with the wife of your friend and defiled the land, and now how can he say this one is my son and it is not his son, since he is a bastard, and now you stopped the chain, thus ‘a grievous destruction’ (Chevel Nimratz). What is ‘Nimratz’? it is the acronym of Noef, Mamzer, Rasha Tzorer (adulterer, bastard, wicked, enemy). We have learned that the negative decree of the 10 tribes was only signed because of the sin of adultery.
