Whoever sanctifies the seventh day as befits it, Whoever preserves the Sabbath properly so as not to desecrate it— his reward is very great, commensurate with his actions; each man in his camp, each man with his banner.24Numbers 1:52. Lovers of Adonoy, who yearn for the building of the Temple— on the Sabbath day be happy and rejoice, as if receiving the gift of God's inheritance. Also raise your hands in holiness and say to the Almighty: “Blessed is Adonoy Who granted rest to His people Israel.”251 Kings 8:56 Seekers of Adonoy, seed of Avrohom, His beloved, who delay departing from the Sabbath and rush to welcome it; who rejoice in preserving it and to place its eiruv26An eiruv is the food which must be placed before the Shabbos in order to enable one to carry from one private domain into another. Without an eiruv the Sages forbade this carrying. An eiruv is also used to enable a person to walk beyond the 2,000-cubit Shabbos boundary. “This is the day Adonoy has made let us exult and rejoice in it.”27Psalms 118:24. Remember the Torah of Moses, which states the Sabbath commandment28Perfect observance of the Torah’s command to keep the Shabbos is impossible without the expositions of the Talmud, commentaries, and codes.—Etz Yosef engraved for the seventh day like a bride adorned amid her friends.29The commandment of the Shabbos was engraved on the two tablets God gave Moses. As the fourth of the Ten Statements, it is surrounded by its sister-mitzvos. Pure ones inherit it and sanctify it with the words, “All that He had made”30Genesis 1:31. — “And God completed by the seventh day, His work that He had done.”31Genesis 2:2. It is a holy day, from arrival till departure; all the seed of Jacob honor it according to the King's word and decree— to rest on it and to rejoice with the pleasure of food and drink— “The entire congregation of Israel will do it.”32Exodus 12:47. Extend Your kindness to those who know You, Almighty, jealous and vengeful. Those who keep the seventh day, “Recall” and “Preserve,”33There are two Scriptural versions of the Ten Commandments. The commandment of the Shabbos in Exodus 20 begins with the word זָכוֹר , recall, and in Deuteronomy 5 it begins with the word שָׁמוֹר , preserve.—Etz Yosef to fulfill, grant them joy with rebuilt Jerusalem;34The proper observance of the Shabbos brings the ultimate redemption and the rebuilding of Jerusalem.—Siach Yitzchak and with the light of Your countenance, make them radiant. “Let them be sated from the abundance of Your House, and from the stream of Your delights give them drink.”35Psalms 36:9. Help those who abstain on the seventh day— from plowing and harvesting, [may You help them] always. Those who walk on it with short strides and feast on it [eating three meals] in order to bless [You] three times— may their righteousness shine like the light of the seven days.36When God created the world, He created a brilliant light that lasted only during the seven days of creation. God preserved it for the righteous to enjoy in the World to Come.—Etz Yosef “Adonoy, God of Israel, [grant] perfect love Adonoy, God of Israel [grant] eternal deliverance.”

To you, Lord, is justice and to us is shamefacedness. How (lit., what) shall we complain and what shall we say? How can we speak and how can we justify ourselves? We will examine our ways and contemplate, and return to You. For Your right hand is extended, to accept the ones returning to You. They are returning to You with all their hearts; accept, in Your mercy, their beseeching. For Your great mercy we have come before You; like weak and impoverished people we have knocked on Your doors. On Your doors we have knocked, merciful and gracious One, do not let us return empty-handed from before You. From You, our King, do not send us back empty-handed; for You hear prayers. The One who hears prayers, to You all flesh shall come. The spirits shall come before You, and all of the souls. The soul and the body are Yours, spare Your work. The soul and the body are Yours, the Rock that none are like You, spare Your work. The soul and the body are Yours, do it for the sake of Your name. We have pleaded for Your name, do it for the sake of Your name. For the sake of Your name, for Your name is Gracious and Merciful King. Your name will be pronounced about us, Lord our God. Your name will be pronounced among us; do not put us aside, Lord our God. Our God, we are embarrassed of our actions and we are ashamed of our wrongdoings. We do not have a mouth to answer back, nor the temerity to lift up our head. For our backsliding has become great, we have sinned before You. We have sinned with our fathers, we have become criminals and wicked. What shall we say before You, the One who sits above; what will we say before the One who dwells up above? Do You not know what is hidden and revealed? You know the mysteries of the world, and what is hidden by every living being. You search the innermost parts of the abdomen; You see the kidneys and the heart. There is nothing that is lost before You, there is nothing that is concealed before Your eyes. If our sins have testified against us, Lord, do it for the sake of Your name. If You should hold on to sins, God, who will remain standing? For from You is forgiveness, so that You will be feared. For the source of life is with You, we shall see light by Your light. For it is not because of our righteousness that we cast our supplications before You, but it is rather from Your great mercy.

And so we have no redeemer and savior besides You. The soul is Yours and the body is Your work, have pity on Your labor. And from the power of the seven circles that we have encircled the platform with the Torah scroll upon it, and have rejoiced for the glory of Your Torah, may You be filled with mercy for us: Bring us back, our Father, to Your Torah; and bring us near, our King, to Your service. And let the judgements be sweetened, let Your mercy suppress Your anger - and let Your mercy roll over Your traits. And bring out the light from all of the sparks of our Torah and our [performance of the] commandments, and let everything return to its initial strength, and 'none be kept banished.' And merit us to be occupied with Torah for its own sake - to bring to the light, all parts of the orchard (PaRDeS, the letters of which form the acrostic of the different modes of Torah study) of our Torah which belong to our spirits, our essences and our souls; the questions, the arguments, the true resolutions and the original legal constructs for the truth of the Torah. And in Your great mercy, merit us to [have] holy seed - wise and pious sons, 'the seed of men' and of healthy constellation (fortune). And let there not be found any blemish or any defect in us or in our seed. And may You, in Your mercy, give us power, health, sufficient ability and strength and vigor in our limbs, tendons and bodies to uphold the watch. And may no irritations or pain befall us; and may we be happy, good and healthy for Your service; and rescue us from all evil. God, and God of our fathers, reign over the whole world in Your glory, and be exalted over all the land in Your preciousness; and appear in the beauty of Your magnificent power over all the residents of Your inhabited planet. And every work (referring to assiyah, the world of building) shall know that You made it, and every form (referring to yitzirah, the world of formation) shall know that You formed it. And every one that has a soul (referring to briah, the world of creation) in its face will say, "The Lord, God of Israel (referring to atsilut, the world of emanation), is King 'and His kingdom rules over all.'" Sanctify us with Your commandments, grant that our portion be in Your Torah, satisfy us from Your bounty, gladden our souls with Your salvation and purify our hearts to serve You in truth. And do not push us away because of any creature in the world, lengthen our days with goodness and our years with pleasantness. And fill our years, eighty years; add to us length of days and years of life for Your service. And shelter us in the shade of Your wings. And rescue us and all the members of our household from all harsh and evil decrees. And initiate a good new year upon us; and let us be still and serene, fertile and flourishing in Your service and in Your awe. For with You is the source of life; in Your light will we see light (Psalms 36:10). Let Your kindness be upon us, O Lord, as we have hoped in You (Psalms 33:22). Show us, O Lord, Your kindness; grant us Your deliverance (Psalms 85:8). But I trust in Your kindness, my heart will exult in Your deliverance; I will sing to the Lord, for He has done good to me (Psalms 13:6). Behold the God who gives me triumph; I am confident, unafraid; for Lord, the Lord is my Strength and Might, and He has been my Deliverance (Psalms 12:2).
