וַיִּקְרְא֨וּ אֶל־יְהוָ֜ה וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ אָנָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ אַל־נָ֣א נֹאבְדָ֗ה בְּנֶ֙פֶשׁ֙ הָאִ֣ישׁ הַזֶּ֔ה וְאַל־תִּתֵּ֥ן עָלֵ֖ינוּ דָּ֣ם נָקִ֑יא כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה יְהוָ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר חָפַ֖צְתָּ עָשִֽׂיתָ׃
Pertanto gridarono al Signore e dissero: 'Ti supplichiamo, o Eterno, ti preghiamo, non periamo per quest'uomo's vita e non poggiare su di noi sangue innocente; poiché tu, o Eterno, hai fatto come ti è piaciuto.'

Though the pigeon offerings have ceased,1The literal translation of the word רֶבַע is a quarter. In the time of the Temple a poor man was permitted to bring doves or young pigeons which were worth a quarter of a dinar for his offerings. though the tent of His dwelling is now empty, we need not lose hope for we have the merit of our old father.2Abraham.
