וַיַּשְׁקֵ֗ף עַל־פְּנֵ֤י סְדֹם֙ וַעֲמֹרָ֔ה וְעַֽל־כָּל־פְּנֵ֖י אֶ֣רֶץ הַכִּכָּ֑ר וַיַּ֗רְא וְהִנֵּ֤ה עָלָה֙ קִיטֹ֣ר הָאָ֔רֶץ כְּקִיטֹ֖ר הַכִּבְשָֽׁן׃
E guardando verso Sodoma e Gomorra, e verso tutto il paese della pianura, vide alzarsi da quella terra un fumo, come il fumo d’una fornace.

This refers only to hiph‘il of שקף. are curses but this one is in the language of blessing. Rebbi Yose ben Ḥanina said, not only that but it is written153Starting words of the next paragraph guaranteeing instant response. (Deut. 26:16) “this day,” the condition of every day.
