There are many other names given in manuscripts of the Babli. said, (Ps. 56:11) “In God I will praise words, in the Eternal235The name “God”, majestic plural of ēl “power”, is always interpreted in the Talmud as “the measure of justice” acting by the immovable laws of the Creation. “Eternal” is traditionally interpreted as designating God the Merciful, Whose mercy is not subject to natural law. I will praise words.” On measures of judgment as on measures of mercy I shall praise words.
