In I will tell [’El] of the decree50Ps. 2, 7. the word ’El51Heb. אל with a difference of vowels may mean ‘God’ or ‘to’. is sacred;52The sense of the text being ‘I will tell God of the decree’. but the Sages maintain that it is secular.53The text means, as in E.V., I will tell of the decree. In ’el God in Ẓion54Ps. 84, 8. the first is secular55’El meaning before (E.V.). and the second is sacred. In When he should go ’el God in judgment56Job 34, 23. the first is secular and the second [’Elohim] is sacred. In the case of Immanuel57Isa. 7, 14. and Immanu’el58ibid. VIII, 8. the first is secular59Being the name of a child. and the second60Meaning ‘God is with us’. is sacred. The first must not be divided61Into two words, since it forms a single name. but the second is divided.62Because it consists of two separate words, עמנו (with us) אל (God). The reading adopted here is that of H and N.Y.

Jerusalem Talmud Sheviit
Rebbi Jonah said in the name of Rebbi Ḥama bar Ḥanina: He who dies in the seven years of Gog119Described in Ez. Chapters 38–39. In the opinion of the preacher here, the days of Gog are immediately followed by the coming of the Messiah and the resurrection of the dead. According to this opinion, one who dies immediately before the resurrection has no part in it, otherwise he would not have died. has no part in the Future World. Its sign is, he who ate at the preliminary wedding feast120Cf. Demay p. 484. shall eat at the wedding feast. Rebbi Yose heard this and said, is that true? So far there is repentance for the Future World121Everybody has his chance at the Future World.! Rebbi Jonah in the name of Rebbi Ḥiyya bar Ashi122He is Rav Ḥiyya bar Ashi. In the Babli, Berakhot 64a, his statement is quoted as originating with Rav.: In the future, fellows will exert themselves from synagogues to houses of study. What is the reason? (Ps. 84:8) “They will go from strength to strength, he will see the Power, God, in Zion,” until he will see the Power, God, in Zion123This Zion is the Heavenly Zion, place of the resurrection, since in this world, God cannot be seen. This leads to the next paragraph on those who have part in the resurrection..
