וַיֹּ֡אמֶר חָלִילָה֩ לִּ֨י יְהוָ֜ה מֵעֲשֹׂ֣תִי זֹ֗את הֲדַ֤ם הָֽאֲנָשִׁים֙ הַהֹלְכִ֣ים בְּנַפְשׁוֹתָ֔ם וְלֹ֥א אָבָ֖ה לִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑ם אֵ֣לֶּה עָשׂ֔וּ שְׁלֹ֖שֶׁת הַגִּבֹּרִֽים׃ (ס)
E lui ha detto: 'Sia lontano da me, o Eterno, che dovrei farlo; dovrei bere il sangue degli uomini che sono andati a rischio delle loro vite?'quindi non lo beva. Queste cose fecero i tre potenti uomini.
I Chronicles
And he said: G d forbid that I should do this. Shall I drink [the blood] of these men with their lives? For at [the risk of] their lives did they bring it! And he did not want to drink it. These (things) were done by the three warriors.
