Sukkot in the Tanach (Feast of Tabernacles): Booths, Harvest, and Joy
Sukkot is the festival of joy, and the Tanach returns to it again and again. Over seven days, read the command in Leviticus 23 to dwell in booths and take up the four species, the harvest thanksgiving of Deuteronomy and Exodus, Isaiah's vision of the sukkah as shelter from heat and storm, the refuge under God's wings in Psalm 91, Zechariah's promise that all nations will one day come up to keep this feast, and Solomon dedicating the Temple in the seventh month. For anyone who wants to sit in the booth and know why we rejoice.
