Tze'enah Ure'enah

“The royal house” [1:9]. Queen,Vashti made a banquet for the women in decorated chambers. Rabbi Abin said: they much preferred the beautiful paintings and jewelry rather than good food and drink, since women desire only beautiful objects.16Esther Rabbah, 3.10.

Targum Sheni

Vashti also made a feast for the women, and gave them red wine,1[Read סומקא instead of אוכמא.—TRANS]and seated them in the palace, in order to show them its riches. They asked her various question, for they wanted to know everything, e.g. where the king eats, drinks, and sleeps; and she showed them all the places. Therefore it is written: "In the royal house."
