“One day Elisha visited Shunem, etc.” [4:8]. One day, Elisha came to a city called Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there. She was the sister of Abishag the Shunamite, the maiden who had been with King David.4Pirke de Rabbi Eliezer, chap. 33; Yalkut Shimoni, II Kings, Remez, 228. This same woman asked Elisha that he should eat with her and he would always eat with her, whenever he passed through the city.
