What is [the meaning of] he shall rule [yimshol] over you
Eve was only cursed by the comparisons [mashalim] people would compare [yamshilu] her with. Our rabbis, may their memory be blessed, compared women to everything in the world:
If they wanted to compare them to a cup, they compared them.
If they desired to equate them with meat, they equated them.
If they sought to correlate them with bread, they correlated [them].
If they wished to describe them like ground, they described them.
In their eyes, they were like a cooked food, like sheep, like geese, like the human body; and even like a pouch full of this or another thing, and like nakedness.
In the future to come, it shall be fulfilled: I will put an end to this comparison; it shall not be used in Israel any more (Ezekiel 12:23).
