잠언 23:2 카발라: Sha'arei Kedusha

Sha'arei Kedusha

Lust for pleasure is worse than all the negative traits mentioned above. For, if a person is gluttonous, he will come to fall to greed, theft, false oaths, hatred of the creatures and envy. Such a person is like Esav, who said,468Genesis 25:30 “Please pour some of that red red stuff into me.” About such a person it states,469Proverbs 23:2 (See Rashi) “If you care for your soul, it would be better for you to put a knife to your throat.” For out of gluttony he will eventually come to eat the meat of an animal that died without being slaughtered (Neveilah) or that has been slaughtered improperly (Treifah) and all other kinds of forbidden foods. Similarly, it is written,470Ecclesiastes 6:7 “All man’s toil is for his mouth,” and it states,471Proverbs 13:25 “The stomach of the wicked will always be lacking.”
