וַיַּעַן֩ שְׁכַנְיָ֨ה בֶן־יְחִיאֵ֜ל מִבְּנֵ֤י עולם [עֵילָם֙] וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְעֶזְרָ֔א אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ מָעַ֣לְנוּ בֵאלֹהֵ֔ינוּ וַנֹּ֛שֶׁב נָשִׁ֥ים נָכְרִיּ֖וֹת מֵעַמֵּ֣י הָאָ֑רֶץ וְעַתָּ֛ה יֵשׁ־מִקְוֶ֥ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַל־זֹֽאת׃
I odpowiedział Sekaniasz, syn Jechiela, jednego z synów Elamowych, i rzekł do Ezdrasza: 'Zerwaliśmy wiarę z naszym Bogiem i poślubiliśmy obce kobiety z ludów ziemi; jednak teraz Izrael ma nadzieję na to.
