'Tak mówi Cyrus, król Persji: Wszystkie królestwa ziemi mają Pana, Boga niebieskiego, dali mi; i kazał mi zbudować mu dom w Jeruzalem, który jest w Judzie.

But there was Cyrus, of whom it is written, “Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdom of the earth has the Lord given me” (Ezra 1:2)? — He was only boasting about himself.

Rava answered [The first verse] was for charging [pekidah] only, and this was fulfilled, as it is written, "Thus says Cyrus king of Persia, "All the kingdoms of the earth has the Lord, the God of the heavens, given to me, and he has charged [pakad] me to build him a house in Jerusalem" (Ezra 1:2).
