וַאֲשֶׁר֩ יָבֹ֨א אֶת־רֵעֵ֥הוּ בַיַּעַר֮ לַחְטֹ֣ב עֵצִים֒ וְנִדְּחָ֨ה יָד֤וֹ בַגַּרְזֶן֙ לִכְרֹ֣ת הָעֵ֔ץ וְנָשַׁ֤ל הַבַּרְזֶל֙ מִן־הָעֵ֔ץ וּמָצָ֥א אֶת־רֵעֵ֖הוּ וָמֵ֑ת ה֗וּא יָנ֛וּס אֶל־אַחַ֥ת הֶעָרִים־הָאֵ֖לֶּה וָחָֽי׃
Albo - gdyby kto poszedł z bliźnim swoim do lasu rąbać drwa, a zaniosłaby się ręka jego z siekierą, by ściąć drzewo, a zsunęłoby się żelazo z toporzyska, i trafiłoby bliźniego jego tak, żeby umarł, - taki niech schroni się do jednego z tych miast, aby życie zachował.
Targum Jonathan on Deuteronomy
(as for example) if any one goeth with his neighbour into the thicket to cut wood, and he driveth his hand with the axe to cut wood, and the iron flieth apart from the haft and lighteth on his neighbour that be die, he may flee to one of those appointed cities, and. save his life.
