Peace in the Bible (Shalom): Seek Peace and Pursue It
Shalom means far more than the absence of war. It carries wholeness, and the Tanach treats it as something a person actively builds. Seven readings trace peace as a practice: the blessing the kohanim place on Israel, Yaakov and Esav meeting again after years of fear, the covenant of peace given to Levi, the command to seek peace and pursue it, a season for every purpose, swords beaten into plowshares, and the call to love truth and peace.
