הָרִֽאשֹׁנוֹת֙ מֵאָ֣ז הִגַּ֔דְתִּי וּמִפִּ֥י יָצְא֖וּ וְאַשְׁמִיעֵ֑ם פִּתְאֹ֥ם עָשִׂ֖יתִי וַתָּבֹֽאנָה׃

Desde a antigüidade anunciei as coisas que haviam de ser; da minha boca é que saíram, e eu as fiz ouvir; de repente as pus por obra, e elas aconteceram.

I have declared, etc. God will say to the unbelievers, Have I not often foretold you coming events before they happened (ראשנות)?1Comp. I. E. on 46:9 and note 6, and on 41:27 and note 35. The past tense is therefore used : and they came to pass.
