וְהַקֹּ֣ל נִשְׁמַ֗ע בֵּ֤ית פַּרְעֹה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בָּ֖אוּ אֲחֵ֣י יוֹסֵ֑ף וַיִּיטַב֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֔ה וּבְעֵינֵ֖י עֲבָדָֽיו׃
Ouviram-se as palavras na casa de Par'oh, dizendo: "Os irmãos de Yosef chegaram!" E isso agradou aos olhos de Par'oh e aos olhos de seus servos.
Guide for the Perplexed
Shama‘ is used homonymously. It signifies “to hear,” and also “to obey.” As regards the first signification, comp. “Neither let it be heard out of thy mouth” (Exod. 23:13); “And the fame thereof was heard in Pharaoh’s house” (Gen. 45:26). Instances of this kind are numerous.
