Zohar
“And Satan came also among them.” “Also” signifies that he came with the set purpose of displaying his superior power as the greatest of all the celestial accusers and so making it difficult for Israel to obtain forgiveness. When the Holy One saw that they all came thus to accuse, “He said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? And Satan replied, From going to and fro in the land.” Now we know that the control of all lands is entrusted to the supernal Chieftains, save that of the Land of Israel alone. Hence, when the Satan said “the land”, God knew that he intended to accuse Israel, and therefore straightway asked him: “Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth? ”
Sha'arei Orah
One who understands this secret will understand the beginning of the story of Iyov, and will understand that even though Iyov was perfectly righteous-Tzaddik, he nevertheless was liable for punishment. This is the secret of the verse,416Job 1:6 “The sons of God-Bnei HaElohi”m-בני האלהי״ם [the angels] came to stand before HaShem-יהו״ה, and Satan too came amongst them.” However, I am not permitted to reveal more about this right now.417See Zohar II 32b and on.
