Midrash sobre Malaquias 2:14

[(Gen. 38:1:) THAT JUDAH WENT AWAY.] This text is related (to Mal. 2:11): JUDAH HAS BEEN FAITHLESS, AND AN ABOMINATION HAS BEEN DONE IN ISRAEL.18Gen. R. 85:1. What is the meaning of JUDAH HAS BEEN FAITHLESS? Judah had been deceitful. < It is > just as you say (in Mal. 2:14): < FOR THE LORD IS A WITNESS BETWEEN YOU (Judah) AND THE WIFE OF YOUR YOUTH >, WITH WHOM YOU HAVE BEEN FAITHLESS. Thus it says: Judah was deceitful. Over what was he deceitful? (Mal. 2:11, cont.:) FOR JUDAH HAS PROFANED THE SANCTUARY OF THE LORD. See (ibid., cont.): HE HAS MARRIED THE DAUGHTER OF A FOREIGN GOD. Now it says elsewhere (in Ps. 114:2): JUDAH WAS HIS SANCTUARY, while it says here (in Mal. 2:11): FOR JUDAH HAS PROFANED < THE SANCTUARY OF THE LORD >. See (ibid., cont.): HE HAS MARRIED THE DAUGHTER OF A FOREIGN GOD.

Rabbi Jehudah said: In that night the Holy One, blessed be He, was revealed unto him. He said to him: Abraham ! Dost thou not know that Sarah was appointed to thee for a wife from her mother's womb? She is thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant; Sarah is not called thy handmaid, but thy wife; neither is Hagar called thy wife, but thy handmaid; and all that Sarah has spoken she has uttered truthfully. Let it not be grievous in thine eyes, as it is said, "And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight" (Gen. 21:12).

The voices of five (objects of creation) go from one end of the world to the other, and their voices are inaudible. When people cut down the wood of the tree which yields fruit, its cry goes from one end of the world to the other, and the voice is inaudible. When the serpent sloughs off its skin, its cry goes from one end of the world to the other and its voice is not heard. When a woman is divorced from her husband, her voice goeth forth from one end of the world to the other, but the voice is inaudible. When the infant || comes forth from its mother's womb. When the soul departs from the body, the cry goes forth from one end of the world to the other, and the voice is not heard. The soul does not go out of the body until it beholds the Shekhinah, as it is said, "For man shall not see me and live" (Ex. 33:20).
