נודע שהוא בעל מום עבודתו פסולה – even according to Rabbi Yehoshua, as it is written (Numbers 25:12 – and not chapter 28, as indicated in the printed text): “My pact of friendship/peace,” when he is complete and when he is lacking/defective. And the Halakha is according to Rabbi Yehoshua.

ושבתה הארץ לה, “and the land will observe a rest for the Lord.” G’d sanctified both the seventh day, (Sabbath), the seventh year, (Shemittah) and the seven times seventh year (Yovel). Each of these periods is referred to as “Sabbath” at one time or another. In our verse the Shemittah year is called a “Sabbath.” Sanctifying the conclusion of the seventh Shemittah year in a 50 year cycle, the Yovel is also called “holy,” as we know from verse 12 in our chapter.

אל הארץ, “to the land;” this verse appears in a truncated mode, and according to the rules of grammar it should have been written as: אל הארץ, ארץ כנען, “to the land,” i.e. the land of Canaan. We encounter similar such abbreviations in Numbers 25,12: את בריתי שלום when according to the rules of grammar, it should have been: את בריתי, ברית השלום.
