כִּ֣י יְדַעְתִּ֗יו לְמַעַן֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר יְצַוֶּ֜ה אֶת־בָּנָ֤יו וְאֶת־בֵּיתוֹ֙ אַחֲרָ֔יו וְשָֽׁמְרוּ֙ דֶּ֣רֶךְ יְהוָ֔ה לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת צְדָקָ֖ה וּמִשְׁפָּ֑ט לְמַ֗עַן הָבִ֤יא יְהוָה֙ עַל־אַבְרָהָ֔ם אֵ֥ת אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּ֖ר עָלָֽיו׃
Porque eu o tenho escolhido, a fim de que ele ordene a seus filhos e a sua casa depois dele, para que guardem o caminho do SENHOR, <span class="x" onmousemove="Show('perush','Veja acerca disto no Michnê Torá, Hilkhôt De’ôt, cap. 1.');" onmouseout="Hide('perush');">para praticarem retidão e justiça</span>; a fim de que o SENHOR faça vir sobre Abraão o que a respeito dele tem falado.
Targum Jonathan on Genesis
Because his holiness (piety, chasidutha) is manifest before Me, (and) that he will instruct his sons, and the men of his house after him, to keep the ways that are right before the Lord, to do justice and judgment, that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which He hath spoken concerning him.
