Komentaryo sa Exodo 30:21: Rashi, Chizkuni, Ibn Ezra & Or HaChaim

Rashi

THAT THEY DIE NOT — This statement is intended to declare subject to the death penalty anyone who ministers at the outer altar without having washed his hands and his feet, because from the first mention of “death” (v. 20) we can only infer that one is subject to death for entering the Sanctuary under these circumstances.

Chizkuni

ורחצו ידיהם, ‘they are to wash their hands;” this has also been repeated to stress that this was a law for all future generations.

Ibn Ezra

(And they shall wash) - He reiterated and mentioned it another time [he had already written so in verse 19], to instruct that they should do so always [for future generations]. Or, he mentioned this [to add a punishment to the warning, to indicate] that if they do not do so, they are liable to death [as it is stated 'and they shall not die'; and so Rashi explains].
