The Third Beit HaMikdash

“And he measured the courtyard. It was square, one hundred cubits long and one hundred cubits wide.”1Yechezkel 40:47. As mentioned many times,2See sections 1 and 26-27. in the Second Beis HaMikdash, this courtyard was 135 cubits wide, the same width as the Women’s Courtyard, which was also only 135 cubits wide. This verse is referring to the Courtyard before the Ulam, that was 76 cubits in length,3I.e., there were 76 cubits between the Ulam and the eastern wall of the courtyard. as mentioned in sec. 26.

The Third Beit HaMikdash

“The Altar was before the building [of the Beis HaMikdash].”1Yechezkel 40:47. In sec. 26, it was explained that it appears that in this vision, the Altar stood 34 cubits from the eastern wall of the courtyard and there were 34 cubits between it and the Ulam, the vestibule of the building of the Beis HaMikdash. Whether in fact it will be positioned there, in the northern portion of the courtyard, the southern portion or in the middle will be explained in sec. 43, with God’s help.
