This accords with the Rabbinic dictum that God puts on phylacteries, that is, He takes up all the supernal crowns, to wit the emblem of the supernal Father and the emblem of the supernal Mother (these being the phylactery worn on the head), and then He takes up the Right and the Left, thereby carrying the whole.’
Sha'arei Orah
Now, because this quality is the gateway by which to enter to the Name HaShem-יהו״ה, therefore, the title, He Who Is Self-Sufficient-Shada”y-שד״י is written and affixed upon the reverse side of every Mezuzah-מזוזה scroll,296The Mezuzah-מזוזה-65 scroll, on which the first paragraph of the Shema is written, has the same numerical value as the title Lord-Adona”y-אדנ״י-65, which is the Sanctuary-Heichal-היכל-65 for the Name HaShem-יהו״ה and the explanation of His Unity, which is HaShem is One-HaShem Echad-יהו״ה אח״ד. The title Shada”y-שד״י, which means “The One Who is Sufficient,” is affixed on the outside of the Mezuzah-מזוזה as an attestation that the Name HaShem-יהו״ה is sufficient, whole, perfect, and utterly singular and alone, and that it is HaShem-יהו״ה, blessed is He, who is our stronghold, as the verse states (Job 22:25-26), “The One Who is Sufficient-Shada”y-שדי would be your stronghold, and you would have an abundance of money. Then you would delight in the One Who Is Sufficient-Shada”y-שדי, and you would raise your face to God.” (See Ginat Egoz of Rabbi Yosef Gikatilla, translated as HaShem Is One, Vol. 1, The Gate of The Sanctuary.) corresponding to the second paragraph of the Shema recital, “and it shall be-Vehayah-והיה.” This is hinted at in the verse,297Job 22:25 “And it shall be-Vahayah-והיה that He Who is Self-Sufficient-Shada”y-שדי will be your stronghold.”298That is, the word “and it shall be-Vehayah-והיה” is one of the twelve permutations of the Name HaShem-יהו״ה. The verse thus attests that it is HaShem-יהו״ה who is The One Who Is Sufficient-Shaday-שדי, and who is our stronghold. Thus, it is He who protects our dwellings and from Whom all beneficence is bestowed, as the continuation of the verse states, and as clearly expressed in the second paragraph of the Shema which begins (Deut. 11:13), “And it shall be-Vehayah-והיה that if you listen to My commandments that I command you today, to love HaShem-יהו״ה your God, and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul; then I shall provide rain for your Land in its proper time etc.” (Also see Ginat Egoz translated as HaShem Is One, Vol. 1, The Gate of The Name.)
