וַיִּקְרָ֧א יַעֲקֹ֛ב שֵׁ֥ם הַמָּק֖וֹם פְּנִיאֵ֑ל כִּֽי־רָאִ֤יתִי אֱלֹהִים֙ פָּנִ֣ים אֶל־פָּנִ֔ים וַתִּנָּצֵ֖ל נַפְשִֽׁי׃
At tinawag ni Jacob ang pangalan ng lugar na iyon na Peniel: “Sapagkat nakita ko nang mukhaan ang isang anghel ng Diyos, at naligtas ang aking buhay.”
Targum Jonathan
And Jakob called the name of the place Peniel; for he said, I have seen the Angels of the Lord face to face, and my soul is saved.
