The Gate of Unity

(This is as stated,22Kohelet 7:29 “[Lo, this only I have found,] that God has made man upright; but they have sought out many calculations.” “That God has made man upright” [refers to] Primordial Man (Adam Kadmon), from the beginning of the line (Kav) until the “heel” of Primordial Man (Adam Kadmon), which concludes at the end of the world of Asiyah.

Sefer HaMiddot

18. Accountants*, for the most part, are full of promiscuous lust (*t.n. This is definitely the accepted understanding, however the Hebrew word here for accountants can alternatively be understood as people who make calculations -- as in Kohelet 7:29, but there the verse says “many” so it would be a long stretch to suggest this usage here, especially since if anything this term could be used in the positive -- as in Zohar Korach 178 -- referring to people who make a daily self-accounting of their conduct).

Tzava'at HaRivash

It states in Sifra,132Sifra, Shemini, Mechilta D’Miluim 2:6 “Moshe said to the Jewish people: ‘Remove the evil inclination (Yetzer Harah) from your hearts, and let all of you be of one fear and one council, to serve in the presence of HaShem, the Ever Present One, blessed is He. Just as He is Singular in the world, so likewise, your service should be singularly devoted to Him.” This is a very important principle. That is, only have one thought in your service of HaShem, the Creator, blessed is He. This is as stated,133Ecclesiastes 3:14 “And God has made it so that they should fear before Him,” and,134Ecclesiastes 7:29 “God made man upright; but they have sought out many thoughts-Cheshbonot-חשבנות.”135The word Cheshbonot-חשבנות shares the same root as thought-Machshavah-מחשבה, as elucidated in Ginat Egoz of Rabbi Yosef Gikatilla, translated as HaShem Is One, beginning of Vol. 3. That is,136Proverbs 19:21 because of the, “many thoughts-Machshavot Rabot-רבות מחשבות,” a person becomes confused.
