"... And he anointed [the Tabernacle] and sanctified it" (Num. 7:1).
Since it is written [here], "and he anointed it and sanctified it," to what matter does "and he anointed them and sanctified them" (ibid., the conclusion of the verse) refer? Rabbi Aivo: Said Rabbi Tachalifa the Caesarean and Reish Lakish, one [part of the verse] speaks of when he was anointing each individual [item], and the other [part speaks of when] he was anointing all of them as one. Another said, "and he anointed them" -- anointing in this world and anointing in the world to come. Similarly, "and you shall join the Tent [of Meeting] together [so that it be as one]" (Ex. 26:11), "and you shall join the tapestries ... [so that the Tabernacle may be as one]" (Ex. 26:6). Rabbi Yudan and Rabbi Levi, Tachalifa the Caesarean and Reish Lakish: One [verse] speaks of when he was joining all of them as one, [and the other verse speaks of] joining each and every one [individually]. And similarly it says, "and you shall join the tapestries ... so that the Tabernacle may be as one" (ibid.) -- "one" for measurement and "one" for anointing.
