Midrash Tehillim
“It is I [who has] installed [in Hebrew: נסכתי] My king” (Psalms 2:6). What does “נסכתי” mean? [It means] “I have anointed him,” as [can be seen from the fact that Daniel] said [of himself that] “I have not anointed myself” [and he used the word סכתי] (Daniel 10:3). Alternatively, [it means], “I have cast him [as one would cast a molten metallic object],” as it is said [of the golden calf that it was], “a molten calf” (Exodus 32:4) [using the word מסכה]. Alternatively, [it means], “I have ennobled him,” as it is said, “eight princes of men” (Micah 5:4) [using the word נסיכי]. And it is written, “The princes of the north are there” (Ezekiel 32:30) [also using the word נסיכי]. And where did He ennoble him? “On My holy mountain, Zion” (Psalms 2:6).
