וַיְהִ֗י באמרם [כְּאָמְרָ֤ם] אֵלָיו֙ י֣וֹם וָי֔וֹם וְלֹ֥א שָׁמַ֖ע אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ לְהָמָ֗ן לִרְאוֹת֙ הֲיַֽעַמְדוּ֙ דִּבְרֵ֣י מָרְדֳּכַ֔י כִּֽי־הִגִּ֥יד לָהֶ֖ם אֲשֶׁר־ה֥וּא יְהוּדִֽי׃
און עס איז געװען, אַז זײ האָבן דאָס צו אים געזאָגט טאָג פֿאַר טאָג, און ער האָט ניט צוגעהערט צו זײ, אַזױ האָבן זײ דערצײלט הָמָנען, כּדי צו זען אױב מרדכיס װערטער װעלן באַשטײן; װאָרום ער האָט זײ געזאָגט אַז ער איז אַ ייִד.
Ramban
AND HE WENT OUT UNTO HIS BRETHREN. This indicates that they told him he was a Jew,83See Esther 3:4. and he desired to see them because they were his brethren. Now he looked on their burdens and toils and could not bear [the sight of his people enslaved]. This was why he killed the Egyptian who was smiting the oppressed Hebrew.
