וַיִּ֤חַר לְמֹשֶׁה֙ מְאֹ֔ד וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ אֶל־יְהוָ֔ה אַל־תֵּ֖פֶן אֶל־מִנְחָתָ֑ם לֹ֠א חֲמ֨וֹר אֶחָ֤ד מֵהֶם֙ נָשָׂ֔אתִי וְלֹ֥א הֲרֵעֹ֖תִי אֶת־אַחַ֥ד מֵהֶֽם׃

האָט משהן זײער געערגערט, און ער האָט געזאָגט צו גאָט: זאָלסט זיך ניט קערן צו זײער אָפּפֿער; ניט אַן אײנציקן אײזל האָב איך גענומען פֿון זײ, און ניט איך האָב שלעכטס געטאָן אַן אײנציקן פֿון זײ.

On the Confusion of Tongues

[50] “I did not owe nor did they owe to me,” for neither did they use the good I had to give, nor I their evil, but, as Moses wrote, “I received from none of them what they desired” (Num. 16:15). For all that comes under the head of their desire they kept as treasure to themselves, believing that to be the greatest blessing which was the supreme mischief.
