מָֽה־אֲעִידֵ֞ךְ מָ֣ה אֲדַמֶּה־לָּ֗ךְ הַבַּת֙ יְר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם מָ֤ה אַשְׁוֶה־לָּךְ֙ וַאֲנַֽחֲמֵ֔ךְ בְּתוּלַ֖ת בַּת־צִיּ֑וֹן כִּֽי־גָד֥וֹל כַּיָּ֛ם שִׁבְרֵ֖ךְ מִ֥י יִרְפָּא־לָֽךְ׃ (ס)
װאָס זאָל איך דיר עדותן? װאָס זאָל איך צו דיר גלײַכן, טאָכטער ירושָלַיִם? װאָס זאָל איך פֿאַרגלײַכן צו דיר, און דיך טרײסטן, יונגפֿרױ טאָכטער צִיוֹן? אַז גרױס װי דער ים איז דײַן בראָך – װער קען דיך הײלן?

My eyes have failed with tears; my innards have shriveled up; my liver is poured upon the ground over the breaking of the daughter of my people, over the languishing of child and suckling in the streets of the city.
