וַיַּ֨עַשׂ לָהֶ֤ם יְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ שָׁל֔וֹם וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת לָהֶ֛ם בְּרִ֖ית לְחַיּוֹתָ֑ם וַיִּשָּׁבְע֣וּ לָהֶ֔ם נְשִׂיאֵ֖י הָעֵדָֽה׃
און יהוֹשועַ האָט געמאַכט שלום מיט זײ, און זײ געשלאָסן אַ בונד, זײ צו לאָזן לעבן. און די פֿירשטן פֿון דער עדה האָבן זײ געשװאָרן.
II Samuel
There was a famine during the days of Dovid, that lasted for three years, year after year [consecutively]. Dovid asked (Hashem) [why has this occurred]. (Adonoy) said, "On account of Shaul and his bloody House because he killed the Givonim."
