וְלֹ֣א אָבָ֗ה סִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֔וֹן הַעֲבִרֵ֖נוּ בּ֑וֹ כִּֽי־הִקְשָׁה֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֶ֜יךָ אֶת־רוּח֗וֹ וְאִמֵּץ֙ אֶת־לְבָב֔וֹ לְמַ֛עַן תִּתּ֥וֹ בְיָדְךָ֖ כַּיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃ (ס)
אָבער סיחון דער מלך פֿון חשבון האָט אונדז ניט געװאָלט דורכלאָזן דורך אים, װאָרום ה׳ דײַן גאָט האָט האַרט געמאַכט זײַן געמיט, און פֿעסט געמאַכט זײַן האַרץ, כּדי אים צו געבן אין דײַן האַנט, אַזױ װי הײַנטיקן טאָג.
Targum Jonathan
But Sihon the king of Heshbon was not willing to allow us to pass through his borders; for the Lord our God had hardened the form of his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, to deliver him into thy hand as at this day.
