כִּֽי־יִקַּ֥ח אִישׁ֙ אִשָּׁ֣ה חֲדָשָׁ֔ה לֹ֤א יֵצֵא֙ בַּצָּבָ֔א וְלֹא־יַעֲבֹ֥ר עָלָ֖יו לְכָל־דָּבָ֑ר נָקִ֞י יִהְיֶ֤ה לְבֵיתוֹ֙ שָׁנָ֣ה אֶחָ֔ת וְשִׂמַּ֖ח אֶת־אִשְׁתּ֥וֹ אֲשֶׁר־לָקָֽח׃ (ס)
אַז אַ מאַן װעט נעמען אַ נײַע װײַב, זאָל ער ניט אַרױסגײן אין חיל, און אױף אים זאָל ניט אַרױפֿגעלײגט װערן קײן זאַך; פֿרײַ זאָל ער זײַן פֿאַר זײַן הײם אײן יאָר, און דערפֿרײען זײַן װײַב װאָס ער האָט גענומען.
Targum Jonathan
When a man hath taken a new wife a virgin he shall not go forth with the army, lest anything evil befall him; he shall be at leisure in his house one year, and rejoice with his wife whom he hath taken.
