Dewarim 33:1 Kabbala: Ohr Ne'erav & Sha'arei Orah

All Israel has a place in the world of worthy souls which are cut out from under the throne⁴Cf. Zohar Ḥadash 24a. of Him who made the earth with His power and understanding, who stretched forth the heavens (Isa.44:24). This is the blessing with which Moses, the man of God,⁵A reference to Moses Cordovero. blessed the children of Israel (Deut. 33:1) in order to purify their thoughts and to securely establish wisdom, and to be enlightened with the light of the living (Job 33:30). [However,] it was hidden from the eyes of the living until his son the sage,⁶A reference to Gedaliah Cordovero. may his Rock and Redeemer protect him, came and brought forth the sun from its place to bring light to the earth and those who dwell [there]. It is a treatise which princes have written. The benefactors of the people have said of it: Taste and see its sweetness and its worth. Every man should bear it in his desire and his bosom.

Our rabbis, of blessed memory, found it necessary to awaken us to this, and therefore informed us of a very important principle when they said,⁸Talmud Berachot 58a “The earthly kingdom is similar to the heavenly kingdom.” That is, if it is necessary to be careful about all the above matters when entering into the presence of an earthly king of flesh and blood, how much more is this so of a person who enters to greet the face of the King, King of kings, the Holy One, blessed is He, He Who is blessed and exalted.

Before the children of Israel entered the land, our teacher Moshe, peace be upon him, blessed them with this blessing-Brachah-ברכה. This is the meaning of the verse,³⁵Deuteronomy 33:1 “And this is the blessing-Brachah-ברכה that Moshe, the man of God, blessed the children of Israel before his death.”
