וְנִינְוֵ֥ה כִבְרֵֽכַת־מַ֖יִם מִ֣ימֵי הִ֑יא וְהֵ֣מָּה נָסִ֔ים עִמְד֥וּ עֲמֹ֖דוּ וְאֵ֥ין מַפְנֶֽה׃
Ninive liegt wie in einem Wasserteich, seitdem es besteht, und doch fliehen sie. Haltet! Haltet! Aber keiner kehrt um.
Targum Jonathan on Nahum
Though Nineveh was like a place of the collection of waters from the days before her, yet they are fleeing. Stand! stand! but there is no one who is turning about to stand.
